Meditation is a journey to find our True Self. "Who am I?" "What is my True Self?"
Through this questioning about yourself, you can find your True Self and reach the enlightenment.
Enlightenment means to see the true nature of your mind.
If you are truly enlightened, you can attain true happiness.
There is no suffering anymore. Everyday life flows in harmony with the truth.
You will live in bliss every day. You can find the true meaning of life and
taste true happiness through this meditation.
Every 3rd Saturday of each month, we have our monthly retreat here at New York Chogyesa. These retreats are a great way to take some time off from our busy daily lives and look within. The schedule includes chanting, breathing exercise or yoga, sitting meditation, 1-1 interview with the temple abbot, and silent walking meditation in Central Park.

(**) While sitting, attendees are to have a 1-1 interview with the temple abbot. Beginners, or those who have never sat a retreat before, are welcome but should plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. for a brief orientation.
Please bring your yoga mat for the breathing/yoga class in the morning. Please note that the yoga/breathing session depends on the availaiblity of volunteers. For lunch break, you are very welcome to bring your own food and eat it at the temple, also, there is a number of restaurants near the temple as well. We hope to see many of you there!
