Art As An Inspiration For Wellness

Join Sisters Thrive and Brothers Thrive for Art As An Inspiration For Wellness, a day of fun and wellness in observance of Children's Mental Health Awareness Week and Mental Health Awareness Month. Youth from all over NYC, in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, took part in a 50-minute mental health lesson and then created art with an inspirational mental health message. The artwork will be showcased outside at Brooklyn Borough Hall on May 31st from 11 am to 5:30 pm.
Schools and community members are asked to stop by and join in this day of inspirational mental health activities activities that include FREE: Yoga classes Mindfulness coloring and paint stations Wellness inspired performances by local poets and musicians A showcasing of student submitted art from around New York City Special thanks and support to our partners: New York City Health Department’s Center for Health Equity Office of School Wellness Brooklyn Borough Hall Office of Consumer Affairs Background: This event is part of Sisters Thrive and Brothers Thrive, two initiatives spearheaded by the First Lady of New York City, Chirlane McCray. Part of ThriveNYC, the City’s comprehensive mental health plan, Sisters Thrive and Brothers Thrive work across the five boroughs to engage the Black community in conversations about mental health and wellbeing.
